Since we now have a baby on the way, the baby will obviously get top priority. But i still want to go ahead with the wedding in June 2010.
Does anyone have any money saving tips i can use to cut back a bit more?
The wedding is £400 paid £100 deposit already.
Photographer is £360 Need to pay £36 deposit.
The reception venue is £125, and £60 deposit still need to pay.
And i getting my dress from Landy hopfully which will save me alot of moneys
I have 4 bridesmaids and 4 pageboys, im getting the bridesmaids dresses in the january sales next year from high street shops so they can reuse them.
We are doing our own catering, and still need to find a DJ
Any other tips?
Thanks
xx

Can you cut down on your bridesmaids and pageboys? I am only having one bridesmaid (my sister) and refuse to have anyone else, partially due to the cost. Where are you getting married? A registry office should cost much less than £400.0

As the baby is taking priority then the obvious way to cut back is to not have any bridesmaids or pageboys.
See if you can pick up some wedding stuff on freecycle. As for a DJ ask at your wedding venue if you are getting married and having the reception in the same place.0 -
What about hireing things such as tiara, veil etc. I'm sure you will want to purchase your gown but hireing accessories is always an option.0

Look out on eBay for things misspelled. I got a bridesmaid dress for 99p that way! Also narrow the search to things listed near you, that way you can save on postage.
Do you know anybody good with a camera. Maybe their wedding gift to you could be the photographs? And you could save on a professional photographer (although I have to say, it's the one thing I wouldn't compromise on to be honest, as I'll never look THAT much like a girl again!)
Once you've bought something, put it away, make a note of it, and STOP LOOKING for that item. I saved loads by shopping around, but I wasted a little by buying something else after already ticking it off the list! It all went on eBay, or carboot sale etc, and I didn't actually loose money in the long run, but it was naughty of me to buy things that had already been bought!
Are there any savings to be made with flowers perhaps? I bet you could learn to do flower arranging, and it would be so rewarding to say it was all your own work! Perhaps the bridesmaids could help. Keep a look out for when Ikea have their daft sales, with vases, or tealight holders for 10p etc.0 -
Alfies mum is right.
When I got married I bought roses from Aldi (netto, lidl etc) whipped ivy from the hedgerows and bundled them together and tied with organza bows. My bouquet cost me the price of 2 bunches of roses. 1 red 1 cream.
Photos were taken by our guests and they gave us copies of the discs. Whith photo effects you can create some super images. You could always ask a photographer for their very basic package to go alongside.
Wedding cake. Most supermarkets have un iced cakes. Your local cake shop if you have one, will be filled with things you can buy and decorate the cakes with. Stack the cakes directly on top of each other and then decorate. You will achieve a beautiful cake for less than £50.
This is exactly how I did my wedding. I made my own dress and bridesmaids for about £50. Hubs suit was more expensive!! We came back to our house and I decorated the lounge/dining room with ivy, twinkle lights and swathes of organza. Our whole wedding with reception and wedding ceremony costs was less than £1,000 and I wouldn't have had it any other way.0 -
Is there anyone in the family who likes music?!?!?! Or a someone whos good wih technology and has an ipod.....did this for birthday party, was brill and only played songs I liked:D
Also same for the cake, if anyone had a talent for baking and card making for invitations.
If you're not asking for presents ask for contribution to the wedding ie cake, invitations, flowers, anyone a good seamstress to sort out dresses etc etc instead
Get as much as you can off ebay...I got the dress of my dreams for £100 off ebay, was £650 at the shop where I tried it on:eek:Debt [STRIKE]£52,656.60[/STRIKE]_pale_£41273.42:)
