Coventry: Does ANYONE understand the bus fares?

I apologise that this post seems like it might be more suited for the vent board, but it does have a point to it:
My girlfriend took the 12 bus to go from Earlsdon to Leamington. She wanted a single so she put in £1.70. "£2" said the bus driver. This was the second time this had happened for a couple months, my girlfriend paying £1.70 every other time. My girlfriend argued, saying it's on the website, but she gave in and got a day ticket; she normally gets a day ticket but there was a small chance I'd be picking her up in the car it's only a 10p difference - or so we thought. Without asking, the bus driver tells her a day ticket is £2.90.
What!? Leamington isn't in the "Coventry area", is it? So surely a Coventry Daysaver isn't enough and it should cost £3.30? But my girlfriend says she finds out her friend has been using a Coventry Daysaver to go from Leamington to Earlsdon and back for a while. So my girlfriend's been paying an extra 40p for...I don't want to think about it.
So, my questions to anyone who knows are:
1. What is the "Coventry area"? Does it really include Kenilworth and Leamington Spa?
2. Has anyone else been using the now-£2.90 "Coventry Daysaver" to go there?
3. Has anyone else ever paid this alleged £2 that's above the £1.70 max fare?
4. Does this bus company really really annoy anyone else?
Thanks in advance. This bus company is really convincing me that getting a car was a good choice.

I'm guessing its Travel WM, not Stagecoach?
Email them and ask is my advice. Understand the frustration! Having travelled the no. 12 for 4 years at Warwick Uni, getting a bus pass was a very easy solution!!!!!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
