as long as the supermarket has a monopoly on our income , and has more easilly available parking then the high st is doomed.
\i dont mind the demise of the high st if it means my monry goes further , but further down the line it will end up costing more when there is no competition between them to drive it.
Councils were the final nail in the coffin , when you restrict parking and dont supply more then how can you use the high st?
Given that we travel more and more by dual carrigeway and motorway to and from work then supermarkets should be forced back once again to where the once were on the outskirts...this would have the affect of creating the high st to blossom once more and supply to those in that area.Have you tried turning it off and on again?0 -

Ah yes councills and their inane asault on motorists, they saw the parking fines as a nice little money spiner, but now no one is visiting the shops the shops close and they dont get any rates.
They might have some childish fantasy that everyone will use public transport, but thats all it will ever be, a fantasy.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. alas soon only Tesco et al will be left and then we'll really see the cartel charging what they want......Oh how they dream of the day.........:whistle:0 -
I owned and ran a shop for about 20 years - certainly no money. Its a bit of a calling - you feel a need to do it.
I think the VAT threshold for small buisnesses should be raised to £100,000.
Also LL should offer an easy get in and out.
I keep eyeing up a small shop thats up for let - but in this climate - would you take the risk?0
