Is This Legal ??

In 1992:eek: I had a business that went bust, (recession) I ended up owing Nat west Bank £4325 on business account (other people owed me £12000  that went bust on me)....after several months wrangling debt ended up at £8425 (interest added thanks Nat West). I have been paying this debt off since 1992 !!!.....started at £80 a month then several years at £60 then £40 monthly (hated this debt as at the time Maxwell got away with owing Nat West £550,000,000 and they never got it back,do people remember that ?). Cut a long story short.......got a letter other day off Triton Debt services who have taken over Nat West debts.......said in letter i owe £2450 to pay outstanding balance or taking me to court!:o.......I phoned them up ask who/why they have taken over this debt and why I have never received statements in 10yrs (yes 10 yrs:mad: off my balance owing, even after phone calls/letters over the years)....wait for it.....she asked me for security information to answer my questions, I gave my birth date and she said" sorry that is different date to what we have on record !!!!!! I told her "that date is definately my birth date and have given it over phone a million times to Nat West over the years !!"....she then said "you will have to go into Nat West bank with proof of identity"..(unbelievable!).....so my question is.........have in the past people ignored they have my wrong birthdate I have given over the phone ? is this debt now enforceable as they have wrong documentation about me?? have they acted illegally all these years NEVER sending me my statement of payments ???.........What do I do now ? because by my reckoning I have paid this debt, and by Triton taking over they have added some fee to it ......any advice greatly appriciated.....:o
