Hi was wondering if anyone can help me I'm 34wks pregnant and still with my baby's father we are not living together but hopefully will be in the near future, I'm am currently receiving income support and my boyfriend is a self employed joiner the problem I'm having is I know by law his name has to be present on the birth certificate which is what i would prefer anyway but will this effect my benefits or will the CSA want to get in contact with him?

no as there is no longer a requirement for those claiming benefits to claim child support0

His name by law does not have to be on the birth certificate. I think that if his name is to be put on the certificate then he has to be present to witness this and agree with it.
Please do not hesitate for one moment about putting his name on the birth certificate, it can have major repercussions later on in your babys life.
Please forgive me if this sounds judgemental, it is not meant to be. My sister's father is not named on her
birth certificate (in those days it actually used to say 'father unknown' ) I cant begin to explain how much this hurt her and still does to this day.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
