I'm hoping someone could give me some advice as i think i might have lost some money.
I applied for a first provisional license with my european passport issued in Sweden that is still valid. I enclosed a cheque sum of £50 and 2 passport photos. I sent of the documents using special delivery to dvla and also paid for a special delivery from the dvla.
Now it seems my application has been rejected due to the fact that the main page of the passport is not attached on its own but by rubber band. There are no damages to the actual information as everything is clear. I am left with the choice of having to maybe renew a passport which is expensive or superglue it together. I have not faced this problem while opening a bank account so i am dissapointed. I am not sure what has happend to the cheque either as i see it has gotten stamped on its backside with a date.
Could someone please advice me of what to do. I have not got the funds to pay £100+ to renew a passport, should i try to superglue the first page?
Regards,
Chino

If they've returned the cheque to you then they haven't taken the money (check your bank account obviously!). The stamp on the back is something like a 'received date' I'd imagine.
Can't give much help beyond that but I can see why they don't want to accept a passport with the main page detached, and give you a new form of ID in return! I used to work in a bank and a torn out passport page would ring warning bells for me.0 -
A damaged passport is no longer valid. No point in supergluing it together because it will still be invalid.
Have you not got any other form of ID you can send? It does not have to be a passport, but if you look on the DVLA site it should list acceptable ID.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Most (but not all I think) Post Offices offer a checking service whereby they can confirm your identity and sent the docs off for you. It does cost but may be an option??0
