I need some help :-(

Hello, and thank you for reading :-)

Ok, well I have a bit of a problem...My (ex)boyfriend and I moved to Spain about a year ago, with 9k worth of debt in the UK. Since moving here, we have joined PayPlan, and so are undergoing a DMP. All this is fine. Now, my problem lies here....last month, my partner and I split up. All the debt is in my name :( (I know, I know, I was young and naive etc etc....) He is named on a couple, as a registered card holder for a credit card, and also he is named on a manged loan we have. As for the other 3, they are just in my name. However, the 2 that he is (sort of) named on, are the main ones, and the ones which I am most concerned about.

Is there any way that I can have them transfer half of the balance into my name?

All help is greatly appreciated :T

Thank you!!

LC

    Hi

If he is the second card holder, you need to ring today and cancel his access to the account. Otherwise he can keep spending on it. Unfortunately you are liable for the whole amount.

wiht respect to the managed account, as this is a joint account they can chase either of you for the whole amount.

    So please contact Payplan urgently.

As a couple you would be jointly liable for debts in joint names. Are the credit card and loan companies quite approachable and easy to talk to? I don't think they would be obliged to do you any favours as regards coming to some arrangement re half the balance, but you need to keep them up to date with your situation. Contact Payplan first, though, they might have some ideas.

Payplan do not charge fees for DMPs and their lower limit for payments is less than CCCS
