do frequent credit searches affect rating much?

I am asking this because I have checked mine and OH,s rating recently and notices that there are frequent searches of our credit file by redcats.I believe this is la redoute. They search both of us every 6 months which I am a bit annoyed about as I have read on this site that the number of searches done can adversely affect your credit rating.
We have had la redoute acccounts in the past as both of us did an in troductory order each to take advantage of very generous money off vouchers we got in the post about 8 years ago.We only did that one order and closed our accounts a couple of months later. We have never had catalogues from them apart from the initial ones,OH thought they may be doing a search before sending out each seasons catalogue but as we dont have accounts and dont get catalogues so that cant be it.
Is this odd? Will it affect the credit rating?Should I do anything about it and if so what? Our main worry is that anyone else looking at our files will think these are frequent credit applications.
