Hi all
Sorry if I'm being a bit dim here - but can I re-freeze mince once I've defrosted and cooked it?? (It was bought fresh and then frozen)
Thanks!

yes you can!
once you thaw something and cook it you can then freeze it again because it is in a different 'state', ie cooked:jTime is the best teacherShame it kills all the students*******************************************************************************************0 -

Thanks for asking this question cos I've been thinking it myself for a while
Is it the same for sausages?Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -
why can you not refreeze uncooked, thawed meat? Is it just one of "those things" you're not supposed to do but no one actually has a good reason why not. Is it just received wisdom?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

cos when you thawed the meat, bacteria may have started to grow. If you then refreeze, the bacteria won't necessarily die so that when you thaw it again, there could be a lot more bacteria in there.
if you cook it after the first thaw, the bacteria will all die, so you are basically starting from scratch as far as bacteria go and can then refreeze it safely.0
