Is there an endowment tipping point ?

I'm talking generally here, not company specific.
I've got 5 years to go on mine, and my gut instinct now is to keep it and keep my fingers crossed. However, if it had much longer to go, say 7-8+ years, I'd be surrendering. I'm no expert, but that's just how it seems to me.
Is there some sort of unofficial tipping point whereby you'd not be looking to carry on an endowment beyond ?

I have to say that the surrender values you would get with a unit linked policy at the moment would mean that it would be an unwise option IMHONothing to see here :beer:0

In my case, I had ten years left to go and I decided to cash in. If I had had 2-3 years left I would have done the same as you, crossed my fingers carried on paying into it and hoped for the best.
My main worry was that when I asked the woman what would happen to my money should their company go bust she had no answer!!! I wasn't prepared to risk them going bust and losing the whole pot so I cashed it in, paid off part of my mortgage.0 -
