white baby clothes/ nappies!

Hi, Our new baby is due in 10 weeks .... thought it was about time to start getting things looked out and organised. But when I started to go through my boxes of baby clothes I notices that some of the white things have got yellow stains on them. Theyve been stored in boxes for the past 2 years and werent yellow when I put them away last time. Will the stains wash out in an ordinary non bio wash or should I use something else on them? I would like to avoid having to do multiple washes if possible as ive got enough washing to contend with in this house anyway!! Also, my cloth nappies are a bit poo stained from using last time. I know stained nappies arent the end of the world as theres a wrap over them, but I d like them to be as white as poss for my brand new person to use! They have elasticated bits on them. How can I whiten them without wrecking them? Thanks

my mum once suggested adding a milton sterilising tablet to a white wash to make things really white - it seems to work for most things for me, and if you have a baby due (congratulations btw!) then i guess there's a chance you'd need them anyway for lots of bottles. not sure how well it'll shift really bad stains, but i prefer it to strong bleach.:happyhear0

best solution is to put them on a hottish wash with bio powder, then put them on quick wash with extra rinse with non-bio.
a good soak in laundry bleach works too - or a sachet of that glowhite make your whites white which you can get from supermarket -fraid you'd still have to put them on a quick wash/rinse before putting on a newborn though.
i tried washing soda once which worked fine too, but i'd still want to be sure that all chemicals were washed away afterRhiannon of WoolamaiThanks!

I find that whites get whiter with a bit of sunshine, and the sun doesn't need to be that strong either.
Poo stains definitely disappear with the sunshine.
The sun (when it appears) at the moment, seems to be doing the job on dd's nappies
Congrats, btw.GC - March 2024 -0 -
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Taking into account all of these I think i'll give them a soak in ecover bleach and then a wash in bio then another wash in non bio!! so much for cutting down on washing, but its not the end of the world is it?? I know the sun helps bleach poo stains, but the sun WILL NOT shift these stains as I tried all during the summer when DS was still using them to get his disgusting mess shifted. The nappies have been very well used but still perfectly functioning so I shouldnt complain! I'll just buy some nice cheerful wraps for over them!!
Thanks!!0
