As someone who shops on-line and goes to the supermarket..
I found that if a product is pre packed, it's safe to buy on-line. If you need to check it out (veg /fruit) it's best to buy in person.
Also be careful of use by / best before dates. You'll never get the one from the back of the shelf! Always the shorter dated one at the front.0 -
I used to shop on my way home from work, but now that I'm cycling I have it delivered

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Sainsburys highlight any short date items when they deliver my shopping - they print them on the receipt under the "short date" heading and put them in a blue bag (normal shopping in orange bags) so that I can find them easily and return them if I so wish.

I do the bulk off my non perishable shopping online, as I hate the whole supermarket experience. I find it all rather depressing and get so I can't be bothered, so I pick up stuff I don't need/eat and forget stuff even when its on a list. Hey! Ho!Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

For me it can be a bit of both. This time though, I've got Asda delivering to me this time - trying them for the first time. As where I live, there's 3 Tescos & 1 Morrisons. Only 1 of the Tescos delivers (sinces its a Tesco Extra) & Morrison don't do it. Asda for me, is about 40 odd miles away, & have not long started doing the online shopping for where I live. I can't wait til they open where I live (which is a totally different story altogether)
