Apologies if this is in the wrong place,
Anyway, I got wind of the Somerfield/Kwik Save sale, well Somerfield have sold Kwik Save to Peacocks and they are thinking of keeping only 180 stores (i think), well they will be selling some stores off to another retailer who I dont know, but the cool thing is they will be having LOADS of bargains soon :T , my local is due to close end on March, so be on the look out everyone.

i think all electrical is at half price.... i picked up 4 morphy richards digital microwaves for £12.49, normally £24.99 and before that £34.99.... also a hand steam cleaner for £7.49, normally £14.99......
this was at the bedworth kwik save store.....
hope this helps people....
by the way nothing was marked down, everything still had the same full price before monday, just that when you go through the till the price was half....
edit: No more microwaves left at the above store.....
i know i bought most of them, but only 1 for me, the rest for family members....0 -

news has is if there are any kwik save and somerfield in the same town then the kwik save will go (in small towns), and in bigger towns if the two are quite close then the kwik save may go too-but my mate aint too sure his manager didnt touch upon this too much as we only live in small town.0

I work for somerfield. ALL kwiksaves are going. Kwiksave is ceasing to continue trading. Some somerfields will be closed too.

It's a bit more complicated than that:
Somerfield have sold 171 Kwik Save stores to a new company. These will REMAIN as KWIK SAVE but will be refreshed. A list of these is at https://www.kwiksave.co.uk.
Of the rest of the Kwik Save stores not sold to the new company, Somerfield will CONVERT 102 stores to SOMERFIELD and 77 have been SOLD to other supermarket operators (thought to include Aldi, Netto and Lidl).

We've two Kwiksave stores in town. The one closest to me says it is closing down entirely, ie. no store whatsoever. The SA was explicit about it - but one other customer said it was to become a local Tesco (Tesco metro).
I'm not much of a Tesco fan so am disppointed. Would have preferred a Somerfield. There is only one hereabouts and that is 5 miles away
Don't know how Tesco has cornered the market as on a random day this is what you see:
Asda - very busy
Tesco - a number of people
Sainsbury - like a morgue
Morrisons - same as Tesco
Kwiksave - Quiet
Aldi - busy
Lidl - a number of people
Netto - a number of people
I think supermarket choice is a status thing. So Tesco is seen as better than Asda but not as snobbish as S'bury.

The Milnsbridge one is already a Somerfield.ac's lovechild0 -
Our local store at Southport is closing and being extended into a Summerfields. They've been out of Seabrooks crisps and crabsticks for the last few weeks. The change will be welcome!0
