Figured you guys would be able to give some super speedy advice
I need pointing at a thread that tells you how to deal with debt collectors. Best friend has £5.5k debt with Egg which she defaulted on and didn't tell them she was going to stop paying. They have sold the debt to Moorcroft and this week she got a letter saying she had until the 20th to contact them or else they were going to send her to court. It's now the 24th and she is panicking. I've had a quick shufty around but can't find a step by step answer to how she should deal with them and what to expect. I've told her to not phone until I've had some advice from you guys and I'm going to drag her onto a pc and get her reading this place. Is there a thread that says what to do in these circumstances? I've seen mention of a CCA
and I keep coming up blank. Obviously the clock is ticking on this one and I want to give her best advice I can.
Cheers in advance - obviously she needs to sort out WHY she got into this situation in first place but if she can deal with this in the first instance at least she should have a fighting chance. No other debts apart from mortgage which she has never defaulted on.

Hi
There is no thread as such. What she does need to do is scan her termination and defalt letters and post them up here - with all the personal details, including bar codes and account numbers removed.
Is this a credit card or bank account? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
