My contribution would be that you have several 'pots' for every type of bill you have to pay to make sure you have the money. So rent pot, tax pot, food pot etc. Although not actual pots in my case, but spreadsheets so I know exactly how much money I have left for general spends.

When you dont remember what your going out clothes look like anymore

When your going out clothes became your ordinary/work clothes as it is unlikely they will still be within 5 years of fashionable the next time you can afford to go out.;)
