MSOC Snowball calculator - testing volunteers

The completion of the new Snowball calculator isn't too far away. Depending on how much free time I can grab and how quickly I can make progress in that time, I reckon that it may be complete this weekend. Before releasing it to all and sundry, I would really appreciate having some people test it out. If you would be interested and have a spare half an hour to give it a going over, please reply to this - either on-board or by PM.

Thanks
Clariman

  • Looks pretty good to me!!! Only thing I found (not sure if it was me being a bit blah!) I couldn't enter 0% APR for my debts! Apart from that its great!

  • Ooooh, I didn't see this on 24th, sorry Clariman.

Just point me at it, I may not get on until Tuesday or Wednesday but if you can wait that long then PM me the details.

Thanks Diana. You can enter 0% as an Introductory Rate for your debts but you can't enter it as the standard rate. Do you (or others) genuinely have a long term 0% rate that isn't an introductory on? Just thinking about it, maybe people have long-term 0% rates from parental loans etc.??

I could easily change that to just put out a "warning" rather than an "error" if the standard APR is 0. As you may have noticed, a "warning" is for information and doesn't prevent the snowball from being generated, whereas the "error" messages do prevent the snowball from being generated.

  • I have just had a play (while I wait for my bread that is baking in my btand new breadmaker - very excited) and it is all working fine for me.

I actually quite like the way the output looks as it is sort of how I write things when I am wiling away the hours working things out in my trusty notebook (generally things I have done on spreadsheets already, I just like the act of writing it down and working out the maths myself)

There is one thing that this one does which is the same as WTC version, that is that if you have over £9999.99k debt you have to miss the pence off the end. It doesn't make a material difference as you can go down to the tens of pennies, just not the individual pennies but I am a weird anal freak that spots things like this.

Good work Clariman, I like it. :T
