Need Help with Welcome Finance!

i took out a loan about 2/3 year ago for about £2000. THey sold me ppi without me realising and as i was only 19 at the time adn desperate for my new car, i just signed the agreement without looking. Last May 2008 I wrote a letter requesting a settlemetn figure, sent recorded of course! they sent one back, a few weeks later might i add! my parents worked it out minus the rest of the PPI i owe them and we sent a proper settlement letter with a cheque for £2k. Teh letter stated that due to the fact i was missold the PPI and the phone calls and contact was absolute rubbish i would be settling the loan with the £2k. That was banked in May 2008..... last week, March 2009, they sent me a letter claiming i am in arrears and owe them nearly another £2k!!! I haven't heard from them in nearly a year!!! Please could someone help me and tell me if this is actually legal? They banked my cheque, they got the letter with it and havent contacted me since and now they want more money!! It's early been a YEAR!! surely there is a period of 60 days or similar that they have to contact me in? any help would be greatly appreciated!:p

Hi and welcome (no pun intended).

It's obvious they've just decided to ignore your letter, something Welcome are very good at.

The first thing I would suggest is to send a Subject Access Request to their head office. This will show the notes on your account, as well as a copy of the letter you sent in.

The SAR letter is here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553 edit to suit.

    Their address is -

Once you receive the SAR, depending on what's included, you can argue that you advised it was your final settlement and the WF made no contact to say otherwise.
