Discrimination (but not in a serious way!)

Hi everyone,

I have applied to do compressed hours where I work. Everyone seems to be fine with this. i.e. work 4 days get 5th off.

The only issue is I have more or less been told that I can't have my day off as a Friday, as it would be seen as favoritism. However another member of staff has been allowed to do this.

The really stupid thing is, Friday is the quietest and shortest day of the week and none of my staff have an issue with this!

This other person is of the same band and level as I am. The other issue is I don't really want to rock the boat.

Has anyone been in a similar situation.

Perhaps it's because the other person is off on Friday so the company don't want to have two people of your level (it seems like you are in some sort of position of authority because you called them 'my staff') off on the same day.

Personally I would take Monday off, Monday is by far the worst day of the entire week!

I have just started working compressed hours and i am not allowed to take Friday as my day off as another member of staff working compressed hours already has this day off. Makes sense to only have 1 person off at a time I suppose?

I have either a Monday to make a long weekend or a Wednesday to break up the week.
