Bankruptcy during an assured shorthold tenancy agreement

Don't know about the name thing or the landlord dying, but the OR (I believe) would have written to your landlord at the time of the bankruptcy to inform them that you had gone bankrupt. If they didn't contact you at the time I can't imagine that they'd not want to renew the lease because of this?!
xx
I wasnt sure if the OR would have informed the letting agents or if it was left to us?! My partner has been trying to get in touch with the OR to ask but can never get through.0 -
As far as I know the OR lets them know :-)[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]We are still masters of our fate.

Our OR didn't let our LL know. We've just had our tenancy confirmed for another year
Only a couple of months of this BR malarkey left now - good grief it has gone so fast! :j

Im slightly worried that the LL will not want us to sign another tenancy. Suppose we will have to bite the bullet and see if the OR has told the letting agents.0

The OR does not always contact the LL, some are happy with a copy of the tenancy agreement and others don't even seem to need that.
I would be more worried that your LL has died and you now do not know who your LL is!
If there was no BR clause in the original agreement then a renewal should be fine, agents rarely credit check for renewals and you have a guarantor anyway. It is not actually a legal requirement to sign up to a new tenancy agreement when the original one runs out, you can go on to a month by month basis. However, most agents like a new agreement for security of tenure and to make a bit more money, plus, as your landlord is no longer, a new agreement is really required with new LL details on it.When I joined, I needed a name. When my partner went for his BR he gave them a copy of our tenancy agreement but never mentioned anything else. They had the address of the lettings agent and our LLs name (at the time) so Im guessing if they needed contacting they would of done so.
We are waiting to find out what is happening with the house. My Partner went bankrupt in October and the lettings agent asked us in November to see if we wanted to stay on so Im guessing everything is ok. Just waiting to sign the new agreement. And see who the landlord is0 -
Sounds like you'll be OK. It's in the agents' interest to get the new agreement sorted in this case anyway due to the (presumed) change in LL.When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Thank you!! You have put my mind at ease!0

The OR never told our letting agents either, by the way. I queried it at the time with the OR and they said they didn't have to let them know.0

Legally do they have to tell the LL? Or is it up to us?0
