Local council doing a survey on heat loss in building with thermal camera

Guy knocked at my door today telling me that there council are doing a survey with thermal cameras on potential heat loss and advising CT payers what if anything they can do about it.

I just seen in DM today that some councils are having planes doing a similar thing, I dont mind them informing me, hell I would have house well insulated if I could afford it, but not much you can do with solid walls. Already have a well insulation loft and double glazing is only a few years old

hmm, so the council are going to monitor heat loss from homes by using planes, kinda defeats the object don't you think?
I also wonder how this is going to work as surely houses would lose heat differently depending on what time of day it is and whether the heating is on even if doors widows open for a reason at the time of the picture.
Seems to be a waste of time really.

Oh I saw that in Daily Mail today just before I got the knock on the door. No the council are just driving/walking by and taking a picture. They said it didnt matter if the weather is better or not or using less heat, mind you Winter has made a come back.
