Freezer problems....?

Options
Hi all, dont know if this is the right place to put this but hopefully it is??

Anyway, have just defrosted my freezer using a butter knife and hairdryer..i know i know, very stupid but hey, ive done it before and it was fine..:o :o:o

However there is now a wierd smell and i have a headache.. i have looked it up (google) and everything i read points to the gas, 'if' any escaped, 'if' i punctured it is harmless. I just wanted to know what others thought? I didnt hear any hissing/gas escaping noises?

Also that if the gas does leak out it said that the freezer would be knackered... well mine is definately working??? Could the smell be just 'old ice'? and my headache a coincidence or just plain paranoia? lol

I am starting to think that logically all is ok but would like others opinions?

Oh and i have ventilated the kitchen.....

Thanks for your help

If it's freezing ok, then I wouldn't worry. You may have overheated the plastic a bit with the hairdryer, hence the smell. I'm sure you would have heard any gas escaping, and, as you say it wouldn't be working.
Just keep an eye on it for freezing ok for a couple of hours.

When we had our old freezer which is in the garage now
it started to play up taking a long time to freeze things OH works with air conditioning so we had someone come and 'regas it' it has worked fine since then.
so I gess you could see if it seems slower that might mean gas is escaping.
