Halifax Regular Saver

Hi, it's me again still with the same problem!
I opened a Regular Saver A/c in Nov. 04 and it matured in Nov. 05. Unfortunately due to an error on their part they couldn't release my money. They have now written saying they cannot release my money £3089 until I go into a Branch (nearest 10 miles away) with identification papers and they have reduced the interest from November 05 to 4.65%!! As the error was all their fault they have offered me £40 compensation. The a/c was paying 7% and in various telephone calls they advised me it would remain 7% until the matter was resolved. Now they are saying it will be 4.65%, can they do this?? I would be grateful if someone could give me some guidence. I have tried the Financial Ombudsman, unfortunately they couldn't help. I have to try and sort it out with the Halifax first. It is difficult to get unbias information/advice. All I want is to have my money and not be out of pocket.
Can anyone help me PLEASE.

on the halifax regular saver you will only be entitled to the 7% for the term that the account was run for and that was 12 months.
TBH the interest on the regular saver was only paid yearly whereas the account they seem to have put it in would be paid daily so therfore a better option for you.
