This is probably in the wrong place so feel free to move it. But i feel this will become an interesting thread.

I Burn the following

£20 Gas
£20 Electric
£80 Diesel
£124 Ciggies.

£124 ciggies!! If I smoked that would be enough to wake me up to the fact that I was wasting money!!!!! How would you feel taking that money out of the bank and literally setting fire to it?

I just couldn't smoke, I'm far too mean.

It upsets me to see little old ladies hum and har over putting an extra pork chop in their shopping trolley in case they spend more than they have, then go and spend £20 on cigs, it's crazy.

Funny enough my hubbie and I were talking about the exact same thing on the weekend we worked out we're spending approx (says very quitely) £270 a month on ciggies between us :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

So we've decided it's off to the hypnotist to try and quit :T

£15 Total, which, since I have to pay something for these services, isn't too bad.

Don't get me wrong, I can understand smoking (to a point) but when you spend more on ciggies than on powering and heating and diesel - or in some cases I've seen on here more on smoking than food - do you not think "hmmm. Time to cut down. It's not making me better, it's only going to make me ill" - worked for me a few years back (that, and knowing that I'd only get OH if I were a non-smoker!)

Hi Willsnarf - I'm intrigued, how can you manage not to pay for gas and electricity? What form of heating/lighting do you have?

Sorry to offend buy the smoking budget but thats exactly as it is its budgeted for as its my only vice i feel its fairer than £124 on beer.

Looks like Im paying to much a month for my gas and electric though :-)

As a smoker even I realise it is pointless to scrimp and scrape every penny I can on other bills and not do anything about smoking. So I have compromised, like my other bills I have cut them down to the bare essentials and use what I save elsewhere.

I decided to smoke and sooner or I have to sacrifice something else I want so I can buy some cigarettes. It is in no way different to anyone else saving on their shopping just so they can buy a bottle of wine or budgetting so they can go for a beer at the pub after work. Well the only difference is my habit will probably kill me one day but thats splitting hairs

Is this monthly or weekly?

monthly it's:

£58.00 for gas and electric
£100.00 petrol for two cars
no cigarettes

It's still £39.50 a week though isn't it? although we capped our electric and gas a few weeks ago for two years.
