Carpet cleaning?

Options
I have had a look through the posts and couldn't find anything similar, but if there is a thread please merge them/direct me to the earlier one!

Basically I have a real problem with swallowing tablets, I normally have soluble ones but last night I had such a headache and no soluble tablets that I had to take normal ones - and rather embarrassingly I was sick on the carpet trying to swallow the tablets :embarasse

I gave the carpet a quick wipe with soap and water last night but there is still a stain there today (thankfully it doesn't smell!). Any ideas on the best way I can get rid of the stain?

TIA for your help and sorry if it's a bit of a disgusting story...

Oh bless you that must be horrible for you!
Try a solution of biological washing powder and warm water on the stain - that may help - it works a treat whenever the dog is *unwell* on my cream carpet - no stains yet ;o)

an article in a newspaper a week or so ago, said that morning fresh washing up liquid beat all the proprietory cleaners hands down, on removing stains from carpets.

my daughter tried it out and yes, it certainly does. she just barely diluted it with warm water and scrubbed the stain with it, and the stain vanished like magic.

Shaving foam, takes out most carpet stains for me.

How does that work? Do you just spray it on neat and wipe?

Thanks for the replies so far :)

  • I use shaving foam too - washing up liquid can leave the carpet matted

Yes you use it neat, just spray it on and leave it for about a minute and then clean off. It can take a while to get all the foam out but it usually does the trick, and if there's still a little of the stain left in you can always repeat the process. Sorry I haven't been on for a while, so didn't see your question.
  • I just use a bowl full of warm water with a squeeze of washing up liquid in it. My daughter was sick all the way up the stairs once - on the way to the bathroom, bless her - and she got seven out of thirteen of them, which was quite an achievement. It all came off with the above solution
