Home-based bookstore: has anyone tried this one?

I'm currently selling books on Amazon, but I would like to increase the volume, and the profits, and a friend of mine told me about this
http://books.google.com/books?id=d2d0lDlO0AwC&dq=the+home-based+bookstore&printsec=frontcover&source=bn&hl=en&ei=xWHHSbXgPOKtjAfx9emPCw&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=4&ct=result
Has anyone tried it? Does it work? Is it just another selling scheme?
(There's actually the book on Amazon written by Steve Weber ' The Home-based Bookstore', who I suspect is the actual creator of this scheme.)
Thank you

Well, all the info looks good and very worthy, but I sell (or should I say sold?) books on Amazon (for nearly 3 years) and the whole thing has taken a huge dive in the last 6 months- I only did it in a small way as a sort of hobby- but was selling a regular 15-20 books a month - now I haven't sold one in 2 months, despite being the cheapest in most of my listings. So I think the problem is not how to get stock, but how to get customers. I suppose it's the old credit Crunch again!0

Yes, to get stock it's not so much of a problem as to have buyers buying the books. I've often thought of starting selling also on Abebooks but they charge a montly fee.
I was reading this article http://weberbooks.com/selling/2006/01/qa-how-can-i-sell-used-books-on.html and read about http://www.bookrouter.com/ but I'm still researching to find out more about it. There's seem to be a fee for that one too, but if the books are going to be listed across many sites, maybe, just maybe, the sales might increase. I don't know...I'm just thinking loud...0
