Has Green Metropolis worked for you?

Hi guys,

I've just heard about Green Metropolis for the first time, and am brimming with new excitement as it sounds like the first viable avenue I've come across for shifting our old books.

But before I rush in, I wanted to ask how many of you have listed your books on there, and how much success you have had from it?

Cheers all,
:hello:

    Hi There!

Funny I should stumble across this. I've just posted a load of books on GM.

I've sold 4 books already, although I have to admit it has taken some time - I think the more interest develops in the site, the more chance there is of making some money on it.

One word for the wise, check, and double check the books you send - they have a 'policy' of allowing recipients to keep a book if you send the wrong one, and you will be required to send the correct one too.

^^; I'd recommend it though, and make sure to recommend friends, that how I ended up there.

I've listed loads of books and have so far sold....NONE. Not one single book in over a month so for me not much luck but to be honest I wouldn't buy a book off it when you can usually get it cheaper on Amazon and the ones that are dearer on Amazon aren't usually available on Green Metropolis cos sellers put them on Amazon to get more money! Bit of a catch 22 the website has but I'll leave the books on there and hope someone wants them!

Sorry to rain on your parade and all that :)

In about 18 months of selling on there I've sold about 20 books, I find it goes through phases of selling a few then months of not selling but for the minor hassle of listing once I can cope with leaving them listed until they sell one day - but I do tend to also list the good ones on amazon, not worth it for the ones selling for 1p these days.

I only occasionally buy from there, and usually with my 'earnings' because unlike boopydoo the books I want tend to be on there for the same as or less than on amazon.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

There are quite a few greenmet sellers over on the Ebay board, I usually use it for the items that are cheap on Amazon..

I keep around 150 books listed on greenmet and sell an average of 1 a month. I rarely sell popular novels though, mots of my books are text books or non fiction as popular novels tend to have dozens of copies listed and of course buying them on Amazon would be cheaper.

I have sold a dozen or so books on there over the last 6 months. I have found it a waste of time listing books on ebay, and Amazon take such a huge chunk of your earnings in fees, you end up making very little. Green Metropolis has given me a steady flow of sales, and you only have to list them once, then sit back and wait for an e-mail to say you have a sale. I would definitely recommend Green Metropolis, as long as you don't expect to make big money from them!

I have had an up and down experience with GreenMet, some months selling a couple of books and then for a good few months nothing at all. I have been a member now for around 10 months and have sold about 8 books so its not really a quick way of selling IMO.

I keep hoping that it will start becoming a more popular sight when word gets around and then it will take off, fingers crossed!

I registered about a month ago, sold 4 books quite quickly but nothing for the last 2 weeks.

It costs nothing to list them so it's no skin off my nose if they take a while to sell, I would like to get rid of the crates of books in the corner of the bedroom though!

I hate to break it to some of you but I've been selling books on GreenMet since 2003 - its not new at all. I've books listed on there, and Amazon. I've just started using Ebay for my cheaper books too. I've several crates of books that I just don't need anymore but can't bear to throw away. I'm steadily selling them, and swapping some on readitswapit.
