Awwww Rose how horrible for you. People like that are a complete PITA. Honestly, how can they get off on making themselves feel good by putting you down???? I wouldn't wish depression on anyone, and I know that you can't 'just change your thought processes'

I think you do really well, and being aware of your depression and doing your best to combat it is half the battle no? AD's are not useless, honestly, I HATE people with no experience of a thing telling you all about it!!!!

    (((hugs))) to you :)

ETA : it's like the senco at my DD3's last school telling me that she "knew how I feel having a child with downs... it's like you're grieving for the child you didn't have isn't it" how dare people do it. oooooo I'm really cross!! gggrrrrr No-one knows how you feel about stuff, or what goes on in your head.

Thanks Sarah. It made me feel really rubbish. I hope they are more tactful with the people they work with! I would hate to be one of their patients!

probably not  just be thankful you don't have to have that person in your life! Now that really would bring you down! :D

ETA : I've just read the discussion, and while I'm not going to get into it over there... I will say this to you, that person sounds like a numpty, very full of their own sense of importance, but really has none. I find it very hard to cope with people like that... massive lack of awareness. You've probably done the right thing staying away. I doubly feel that after reading his answer to your questions. ((((hugs)))) Rose, try not to let it get to you. You're doing a smashing job. :)

Yes, you are right! It is a mercy! I'm going to take a break from that thread.
Sir Fred Goodwin's house and car has been vandalized. What a shame I don't think.Hahahahahahaha

ETA: Watching BBC news - their reporter Frank Gardiner, who was shot and seriously injured to th point that they thought he would never walk again, has been standing up on recent reports. They just showed him doing a form of skiiing for disabled people. He is a true inspiration. Still paralysed from th knees down, but has recovered a huge amount from how he was a few years ago. Th BBC website has a lot of information about what happened to him if anyone is interested. He is amazing!

Thanks Sarah, I really needed reassurance that I wasn't being over sensitive. Thanks for your kind words xx

Rosepink - I found the mse forums when i googled "depression advice and support" - that came up. I was on that thread for a whole of 30 seconds and never went near it again. The bonus was I found this one and never left!!.........although im not sure that was a good thing for everyone else. :rotfl:

Back to the kitchen - teenybash is head to toe in mud from playing football at school, so the washing machine is on again for another go :D Wouldnt it be handy if you could chuck them all in in one go - kid'n'all and they came out sparkly clean......

    Evening all

Thanks xx-J0 -xx for trying to send me a message - that was really sweet of you! And Mudders too my inbox is now clear!
Rosepink - hope you're feeling better this evening
Sarahsh - good news about DD3 - she'll have no excuse not to hear you when you call her now!

Oh, and re the Google streetview thing - they've not reached these 'ere parts yet. I am SOOOO glad we had the outside of the house painted last autumn! I shall have to have a concerted effort and clean the UPVC on the outside main window at the weekend just in case!

It's been far a more difficult afternoon than I expected. It started off so well. NN was there to meet me at the garage, I handed the keys over and NN drove me to the crem on time. I was calm and even smiled as we walked into the chapel because they played a jolly tune - 'In an english country garden' - which was so fitting in many ways. There was a goodly amount of people there. I sent your regards Rach.

The vicar doing the short service is the vicar of the church he went to and knew him well. He summed John up perfectly. The thing that got me going was (and I've never seen this done before and I'm welling up remembering it) that the vicar got off the rostrum at one point, walked over to the coffin, patted it where John's shoulder would be and basically said "you'll be missed".

~short pause for copious nose blowing~

Anyway. Enough about that. NN drove me back to the garage and dropped me off before making her way home. I had just about composed myself by this time. The service desk girl hands me back my keys and says sorry, the wrong headlamp was ordered. It's not fixed.

Almost a last straw. I stand there speechless for two seconds and had to decide between bursting into tears and sobbing all over the counter or getting really, really assertive to hide the tears. I chose the latter though it was a close call. I don't like doing crying. Ever. And certainly not in the middle of a car showroom.

They probably think I'm the customer from hell. I demanded to know what had gone wrong, why it had gone wrong (as they'd ordered it using the chassis number of all things!) and how long it would take to get the right part. These were questions which weren't satisfactorily answered. All I got was an apology and that they should have the right part in at the beginning of next week. But they couldn't tell me when and they'd only know if it was the right part when it arrived.

I then said Ok - the least you can do is fix it so that the shattered bulb is replaced, the main beam works again and the hole in the glass is sealed to protect the bulbs from damp.

    Guess what.

They did. Immediately! And didn't charge me a penny.

I am now having a drop of John's gin he bought me for my birthday and toasting him with it. He would have approved of my choice of assertiveness over damsel in distress.

But, enough about that, I've prattled on for far too long and totally off topic, but it's so good to get it all off my chest with my virtual friends.

I am now going to be the perfect flylady by making soup from Sunday's chicken carcass, put the BM and the WM on and do a bit of flying

Hugs hun, I expect you know this but don't go near pregnant women!

It's so lovely to have you back Toots! :A

I had a very chilly bath  Not happy. Then someone on another thread (depression support of all places) made me cry. They have never had depresssion but their job is to help people who have it. They seem to think that AD's are useless, that they would never get depression because they would be able to stop themselves getting it, and that you can cure yourself by changing your thought processes. It made me feel very inadequate and I'm not going on there for a while. That person has been annoying me for a while and I finally told thm how I feel. If I could cure myself I would! I do try to think positively. They just have no idea. I don't need to be made to feel a failure, I do a good enough job feeling like one on my own without someone else making me feel that way! :o

rosepink - I think I might pop over there and tell them to f e c k off. I'm on ADs, have been for ages. Don't let anyone make you feel that way (((hugs))) xxx
