Can anyone help me?

Since last January I have been looking after my Dads affairs as he had a heart attack and I didnt want him to get stressed over anything.

A few weeks ago he got a statement from a loan he has ( rolling finance loan, used to be under London Scottish ). On reading the letter I noticed that his surname was incorrect on the letter.

This wasnt a regular spelling mistake, it changed his name considerably.

For example if his surname is Hardly, the letter was addressed to a Mr Hordly, this is just an example but very similar.

I decided to keep a check on this just incase it was a spelling mistake but the next 2 statements also had the incorrect name, we ordered his credit file online and there it was, all the loan details but with an incorrect surname.

Does anyone think there is a case to have this loan written off on the grounds that is isnt my dads name on the account?

Any info/ideas/help would be hugely appreciated, even if its just to say no chance!

Many thanks,

Steve

I would suggest you have no chance but I may be wrong.

If it's just a spelling error on your dad's surname, it's just a case of changing it on their systems. There's no way the debt will be written off.

Hi, you might want to be careful because if he has had the benefit of the money and then he argues that the contract was wrong then it may trigger repayment i.e the parties are put in the same position they were before the error.
    Hope ur dad gets better
  • It sounds like a simple typing error as in Stirling for Sterling.
