Getting interest and fees and charges stopped / refunded

Hello

Since being on a DMP with CCCS approx 6 months ago, most creditors froze or reduced to around 3% interest. This has been much appreciated

One refused, and another has just reverted to 17.9% fees and is saying ion a recent correspondence that as my OD is being removed, I will be deemed to be breaking the OD on 1st April and will be charged £20 per day

£20 per day!

Anyeone have the appropraite template letter to request this is stopped and fees refunded?

Thanks

  • long tim for a bump....but BUMP

tried ringing the creditor and speaking to guys on the other sifde opf the world who keep stating full setllement of the debt would lead to no further fees! HELPFUL

    Any advice please
  • This is one of the thing that worries me the most that none of my creditors will reduce/stop charges/interest when I start my DMP. They are under no obligation to do, but I think may of them do eventually. Have your debts been passed to DCAs yet? I think more people have success with getting charges etc. reduced or stop when this happens.

You could try writing to them all again and explaining that by continuing to charge interest, they will only may a bad situation even worse, and that they could jeopardise your DMP where other creditors have agreed to stop interest etc. May help!

Have you spoken to CCCS about this? They will usually handle problems on your behalf I think.

How much is the debt in question. If less than £5000.00 a court would not add interest in the event of a ccj. Point this out to them and insist that if they don't stop adding interest you will be forced to stop making payments on the account. Always seemed to work for me. Not sure how you'd get on with reclaiming past charges though, but you could only but try.

I had a nightmare with Lloyds they would not stop interest i was making payments to them for £15 per month and there was £98 going on in interest so over the last 12 months my debt has risen quite alot .CCCS did all they could but as they say creditors can keep adding interest if they want .I got my template letter for stopping interest from national debt helpline just google it but this template did not help me. I was so fed up i wrote them a heart felt letter of my own saying how ill they where making me that i would love to work but im so depressed because of all the worry that they where causing me .I accused them of putting me in more debt by keep adding interest every month and that they had made my situation much worse .Guess what they stopped my interest after that letter :jits worth a try goodluck .
  • thanks for advice....cccs have sent details of my creditors and income soa etc etc 3 times, and lloyds claim I need to fill an SOA in for them directly..........

the debt is less than 5k....

Most of my creditors have accepted I am paying quite a bit and trying me best - and have frozen interest

Have sent template stating that their demand for me to pay more each month is unfair to other creditors

think I will try the beg and tears letter
