Quick easy moneysaving Recipies for Dinners please!

Hi
This dinner idea is for a family of 2 Adults and 2 toddlers. I thought I would share, hopefully some others will share some too as I could do with new ideas for meals.

Ingredients: (from asda)
1 pack of asda finest angus beef sausages. 3 for £6 - so £2
1 Jar of sausages tonight sauce red wine and onion (all are tastey) Rollback £1
3-4 large potatoes aprox 70p
1 pack of fresh sliced smart price carrots 29p
Dash of milk and butter for mashed potato
Total cost £3.99

Method:
Take a dish ( I used a lassange dish) place sausages empty carrots on top then pour jar of sauce over.
Cover with tinfoil and cook for about 30-45 mins at 200 or until sausages are cooked.
Peel boil and mash the potatoes and serve.

Really yummy, made this a couple of times now .

My cheap easy dish is pesto pasta.

    Tesco value pasta 43p
Green pesto sauce 99p - I get quite a few servings from one jar

I will add different things like cherry tomatoes, or buy a jar of sun-dried tomatoes (again I can get quite a few servings from this).

It's always yummy, and you can make lots to save for the following day too :j

One of my ex-housemates taught me to do this with a pack of savoury rice instead of the pasta. It was surprisingly yummy!

    Me again! :o

I am not sure if this can be found elsewhere on this site, but before I was married we used to make savoury bread and butter pudding. Basically you make it with granary bread and leave out the butter and the sugar and dried fruit. Instead add grated strong cheddar, a little mustard to make the cheese go further, black pepper, herbs and layer in either some sliced tomato, mushrooms, red onion or leeks. Other than that cook and prepare as normal!! :D

I don't know the costings, but there aren't any expensive ingredients! A similar version using bacon and butter is costed to 46p a serving here

That would be too rich for me, it had plenty of flavour the way we made it. :money:
