hi all, have been doing this since last july. its got so bad now, that dhl have backed me into a corner. a few weeks ago, they used to pay up to 25 parcels, so if i got say 15 id get 10 top ups. now they changed it to 15 parcels, ive been getting almost the 15, so i havent been getting a lot of top ups, although i have had the odd day where ive had maybe 5, so then dhl have to pay the 10 top ups.
well, ive had a text message last night, saying that top ups are being removed totally, and that my option is to have another area. the area i was offered a few weeks ago when another courier jacked in the job, was a drive of 7 miles to the delivery tour. i havent had nothing in writing to say this is whats happening, just the text, and feel that as they havent got this other courier, they want me to do her's, so that the nearest courier to me gets my tour. i obviously cant work at the rates of having no top ups if i only do get 5 in a day (5 x 65p=3.25) the car costs £15 a week in diesel, let alone the tyres and exhaust its just had..... i was making after my cost of fuel around £30 a week, i know not much but its still better than nothing. now im back to treading water again....

Recession or Exploiting the courier. looks to me they are trying to squeeze the last bit of profit out of its own workers.

Hi Melie3, I used to work for them i only lasted couple of months as i found them quite unhelpful and i was not making much for the time put in because it's not just about delivering is it? I was the other way though i had too many parcels and found it a real effort to deliver them all. They did seem to just drop things on me at the last min but i got fed up before they really got to me.

recession is a lame excuse i reckon. my driver says its cheaper to pay me than him, so how they are treating me is unfair i think. it was a cushty lil job, taking kids with me while earning a few quid to keep us ok. dont think ill find another job so flexible. i might have to go back to working eves somewhere i guess. thanks for replies x
