Need to pay the French Treasury
bearing
I spent some time in hospital while on Holiday last September and I've got a bill from the Tresor public in France that I need to pay, once paid I can then reclaim the money from here as part of the European Health Insurance Card scheme.
Now what I need to know is how can I pay this, I'd like to just send a cheque but obviously my cheque book is sterling and I doubt they'd take kindly to me sending them a cheque in sterling.
Has anyone else on here had to do the same and how did they do it?

For a fairly high fee (£15 to £20), you can get a cheque in euros from your bank.
Are you sure you can reclaim it? You were entitled to the same care as a French resident, not free care.0 -

Yes, I can reclaim the money have had it confirmed by The Department of Health.
I do doubt that I'd get the cost for a cheque in Euros back though.
Guess I may have to telephone them using my pigeon French.0 -
Email the French Embassy?
Not so related, but my dad got a Parking Ticket while in Germany. He was willing to pay it and didn't have a clue, so he just emailed the embassy and I think he was able to bank transfer it.0 -
Probably easier to transfer the money through your bank. You'll only get 70% reimbursed (unless you have insurance) as that's what a French person can claim back.0

Maybe put a query on this thread, the ex-pats living in France should be able to put you straight!!
