£400 per month for rent on a 1 bedroom flat seems high. Most houses with 3 bedrooms round here are about £370 per month.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Linzibean - I love your Avatar! If that's your boyfriend...I'm sooo jealous! :laugh:
(And also, if it is, you can probably relax a little on the money side
)
But on a serious note, you seem to have things under control...I think all I would say is: don't use a credit card - or a debt card as I now call it! - anymore. Or have/use any other form of credit if you can help it.
Oh and try and save any spare money you can as often as you can even if it is £2...when you have your own place there is *always* something that needs fixing/buying. Grrrr. Even coppers in a jar can help i.e. I save them with OH along with 5p pieces then once in a while we take them all to the machine at our local Sainsburys and swap them for money off voucher at the checkout. It makes a really useful difference.
Good luck with the move-in!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

Hi Linzibean,
I'm not sure from your post if you're both moving out of home for the first time or if you're moving from other rented places into one together.
If it is your first time moving out of home you probably need to budget some money for things you'll need for the flat. OH and I moved into a fully furnished apartment last year but still ended up spending a few hundred quid between buying sheets,towels, bins,laundry baskets and other odd bits and pieces. If you could even start getting some of those bits and pieces now as you go along it would make things easier.
Remember as well that the first week you go grocery shopping you'll have alot of basic provisions to buy like condiments and store cupboard basics.
Good luck with the moving in.0 -
Oh, I;ve rented before. With a sponge! and messed things up with my budget, so thats why I'm being so careful!
£400 is about average for a 1 bed flat in Aber where we're going to live
The £650 im saving for in my sig is one months bill money and £200 towards things we need to move in
We dont need a lot as we both live away from home now at uni and have a lot of things, but ive budgeted so we can get well set up!!
haha, i wish my avatar was my boyfriend too
