2005 was a bad year..Lots help please.

Options
Where do i start? :o

5 Creditcards...
1 Loan...
Catalogue...
1 Store Card.
+ Overdraft.

Things were ticking over nicely until late 2004... Never late with payments always
made more than the minimum payment...

Then it started going downhill, Always seemed to be another expensive bill..
Meaning i was paying minimum payments & Using tha Cards more often.

2005 was dreadful... Drop in income & missed payments...

Some companies were really helpful, Others were a nightmare...
Why is it when i phone to make a payment plan the 1st thing
they want to do is add an ADMIN CHARGE...

So i presume my credit history is shot to ribbons now...

My current job doesnt look like theres going to be an increase in wages to
help me repay these debts faster...

I have a chance at another job paying £100 a week more, But i will need a car..
Must be reliable so im guessing something in the region of £3000??

Who What Where??

Just been using that calculator (whats the cost)
And it seems paying over 36 months saves a LOT of interest compared with 60 months.
And only adds £30 a month extra £127 instead of (£97 over 60)
Almost half the interest..

Can anyone help? Is it worth trying or should i just sit it out in my current job and hope things pickup?

Finally one CC company i wont name em as yet.. Sent letter hinting they could remove charges & interest..
After phoning them to create a payment plan..Which i cant really a bit more than i can afford..
Refused to remove any charges saying.. they are legitimate...When i enquired why they couldnt setup this
plan last year when i 1st contacted them they declined an answer..then went into parrot mode...legitimate charges...
Can i contact a Citizens Advice or similar regarding this one company or will they need to contact all my creditors?
I have 2 CC's that are low payments & i have not missed a payment on these.
GF pays them..

Thanks in Advance...

    Welcome aboard!

these people were recommended to me by the Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB)

they were able to help me get a mortgage company off my back and get me some breathing room.

Just a thought - You might wanna get this moved to Debt free wannabe board as more helpful people might read it!

  • hi, post this on the debt free wannabe board aswell ;)
    Debt at highest £16k+
    Debt at lightbulb moment £14,800
    Current debt £6336
Cleared £4206 in November 05 How ? Bye Bye PPI :)
  • Cut up the credit cards that you don't need, as well as the store card. You won't be able to use them then. And don't be scared or embarrassed to ring up debt help lines to get advice. Admitting you have a problem (as you have done by posting here) goes a long way to getting you on the road again.

You don't need to spend £3000 to get a decent car. If you stick to decent makes, there's no real reason to spend all that much. Pop along to the Autotrader web site and have a look at cheap cars in your area.
