I wonder how many dealers will be 'suggesting' to their Service centres to come up with ever more creative excuses for MOT failures etc. and telling the punter that the cost of repair is ££££ and they'd be better buying a new one? "Surely Sir, you value the children's lives!"0

Too much cynism for a Friday my friend!.
(but I agree;) )Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -

It's of little surprise that with the collapse of house prices, cars are suffering the same fate, most people who buy a new car need to mew or get finance, the former has disappeared with the house price collapse and the latter has disappeared because of the house price boom.0

I've not really seen any 09 plate cars since the change either.
The 1st two vehicles I saw on 09 plates were both motorhomes, the old style final salary pension schemes must still be paying well!!I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
For those that are interested, the general motor industry issues are being discussed over on Pistonheads.
The main reports from used car auctions show that supply of near-new cars is drying-up a bit and that hammer prices are significantly up across the board. This means that the main franchised dealers are buying their used stock at high prices and will, inevitably, pass on the higher prices within a few months. Be prepared for used car inflation.
As for new cars, be careful when definining a "British" car. Does a Volvo count as British - probably not, except that its diesel engine is likely to come from Dagenham. Or indeed a Peugeot engine from Hams Hall. The reality is a little more complex than brands and main assembly locations...0 -
Has anyone driven past a "new" car forecourt recently? I went past my local Vauxhall dealers this week and was surprised to see 01/02 plates of various (non Vauxhall) brands been adverstised as the best buy of the week.
The simple fact is we are all used to new car dealers = 58/09 plate ex demos etc been shown on forecourts, now there is a lack of new cars built and as the fundng for this has now gone our main stealers are now becoming glorified used car lots.
I go past a Honda and Mini dealership every day in my job and they have an tiny amount of branded cars on their forecourts, looks weird driving past a Honda dealer to see BMW's Porche's etc
This is the price of the credit crunch. They are out t make money, if the maufacturer can't guarantee this then they will look elsewhere

I wonder if they are company cars or on lease as they are the boring models and a lot of them are diesel.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
