Martin posted about loan sharks recently.

This report on a violent money lender really brings home the huge difficulties faced by people for whom even the Provident is not an option.

I actually feel sick that this goes on in this day & age in a so called civillised society.

  • Unfortunately, I see a lot of it round the area I now live. Which is a really stark contrast to where I was before. A completely different world, literally. But I am used to it now, took me ages to settle down, realize I wasn't going anywhere for a while. Anyway, enough with the diatribe. Opens your eyes a little. Not that I never knew about how life is and can be for some, but it is different 'knowing' and living. And you see a lot of things going on around you that people do to get by, rightly or wrongly.

The leaflets never stop through the letterbox or letters from people like Providant, buy your house for cash and so on.

Thought about being dishonest one day, saying I owned this house (which I don't) and selling it just like that for the cash, leaving the country never to be seen again and fulfilling myself in seeing the world outside the UK.

But ... this area is the sort this swine as reported thrives upon whilst living in a luxury lifestyle. Seen what seemed to be loan sharks collecting at doorways, little black books out, taking payments. Parasitic isn't the word.
