I have tried to claim back £1700 in amin fees from Barclays/Woolwich. These fees were applied when payments were late, due mainly to the fact that we were in receipt of DSS benefits - my husband was ill following a car crash in 1997. The DSS wrongly refused mortgage payments for the first year, then realised their error. However their payments to lender were erratic, resulting in late fees. We had no control of when they sent payments. I have written to Barclays requesting a refund, they refused. I then asked the FSO for help. They also said no citing T&Cs etc. Surely this should come under unfair charges. We have remortgaged & are no longer with Barclays. I have seen some forums where people have been successful in getting these fees back. how can they cherry pick?0

:Dhi there
i unfortunatly fell behind with my mortgage last year due to my contract at work finishing but knew it was going to be renewed after 4 mths
I telephoned the company involved who to be fair at first were really helpfull i was still paying half of my payment and i went on to explain i would catch up once my contract started
I kept in regular contact then i started back to work owing roughly 3 mths payments because i had missed the cut off for my monthly wages i explained that i would be missing a month but paying the following month half of the total arrears owed plus my full installment ,thats when things got nasty ,soilicitors letters ,offers of financial advisor etc which i refused stating i was paying soon as soon as i was in reciept of my wages ,which i have now paid
To cut a long story short i have been served with repossession papers for 4 th july ,i owe about 2 mths arrears now and after tommorrow 1 mth as im sending another payment im mad as hell i kept in contact ,im now paying and the company are still going ahead with the court case so all this help youre supposed to get didnt happen for me ,just hope the judge sees this .0 -
We had no help at all.
Mortgage with C&G, before hubby lost his job suddenly - due to the current ecomomical climate, so along with many hundreds of others in the same job, although before that we kept up with the mortgage and never missed any payments.
So of course with hubby signing on me on Carers allowance as I care full time for my son with autism, we went right into the overdraft which was hitting the limit tp pay for the mortgage.
We tried asking for help and we were turned away.
We are still waiting for feedback about going to interest only, and paying what we can, but have now have an hefty amount of approx £2.8K in arrears.
Lloyds TSB are suppposed be one of those in support of the rescue scheme, but they told us "no".
If they helped us from the start when we asked all in good time, maybe it would not be as bad as it is now.
They have not followed the mortgage protocol and have failed us.
Apologies to anyone who works for Lloyds TSB.......:o.
But we have been good customers with Lloyds TSB for approx 18 years plus joint and many years before that with separate accounts and never missed payments before all this......The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
