Setting up own business as a sideline

I currently work full-time as an administrator, but I want to take on extra work to pay off a loan & to raise a deposit for a flat.
I want to provide admin services such as CV formatting (I used to do this for a big recruitment company), proof reading, PowerPoint presentations etc - basically anything administrative.
As I work PAYE for my present company - am I allowed to set up a Ltd Co for this extra work? And how do I inform Mr Taxman?
Many thanks for any help offered...

You could just go self employed and do any work on the side, you would then complete a self assesment for each tax year and pay any outstanding tax0

Yep ive just done this myself....
go self employed, declare your own business tax to the tax man and do a self assessment each year. Then for your other job, pay for the tax via PAYE. You get a seperate tax code

So next question.... I want to set up my own Ltd Co (not go through an umbrella company or MSC - I have experience of these and know tht on the whole they are useless & money grabbing)... How do I start off doing this?0

If you Google 'How to register as a ltd company', the first result is Companies House and the second result is Business Link. I suggest having a read and following their advice.0
