CSA call out of blue, DoE in place ?

Just had a phone call out of the blue from *** at DWP asking for OH. OH picked up phone and the bloke said he was calling from CSA.
1 - Should the CSA have said they were CSA or can they lie and call themselves the DWP ?
Bloke wanted OH to pay £1000 over the phone, which OH didnt.
Bloke said that they were going for a Detachment of Earnings of £400 per month and that he didnt have to send the information to us in writing.
We've had no letters, no assessments or anything from CSA in the whole 2 years that me and OH have been together. Both on Electorol role and paying Tax and NI through work etc. All above board.
2 - Can CSA do this without informing us/OH via letter ?
OH actually rang the CSA up and informed them that his Ex was actually an actress who starred in movies, owned at least 2 houses/buildings herself that she rented out (in London!) and was on every benefit under the son (housing, council tax, disability, incapacity etc) claiming she couldn't work due to being around people made her (whatever the phobia is) yet she's an actress who stars in films ?!
CSA looked in to it (as far as we know) and said fair enough and that was that.
3 - What's the process or next step for us ?
OH can't and won't be able to pay what they are asking. He gets £1k a month, £400 for bills, they want £400 which leaves £200 for the car insurance, petrol etc.
I get £500 a month so am not left with much at the end.

has your ex paid child support in the past and is he still paying, you need to request a breakdown of how they come by this figure they say is owed. If he has never had a case through the CSA he will need to request how and where they tried to contact him
The fact that his ex is working has nothing really to do with whether he should pay child support or not, he is still expected to contribute.
There are ways of reporting benefit fraud in which case she will be in serious trouble but he will still have an obligation to support his child/children0 -
report her for benefit fraud and send a film she has been in to their office, the local council's benefit fraud teams are better than the dwp ones
how old is the child? have the csa ever been in contact with him before?0 -

1 - Should the CSA have said they were CSA or can they lie and call themselves the DWP ? They're not allowed to say CSA until they know they're speaking to the correct person. Just in case, for example, NRP's wife answers, and she knows nothing about this child/CSA case.

He needs to phone benefit fraud hotline and tell them this. CSA don't do benefits - however, they may have passed the info on.
What she earns/owns doesn't matter - NRP is still expected to contribute.

He needs to know when the case started? And how much he's been assessed at. If he's not provided info to them, they may have put a penalty assessment in place, which are usually very high.0 -
I myself have a DOE set up from the CSA,they told me they were collecting 40% and that was that. They dont care a bit what bills the NRP has to pay.Aslong as they leave you with no less then you would receive for being unemployed. You have to pay no matter what situation the PWC is in,she could win the lottery you would still have to pay.I am now taken home £735 a month to bring support my new family.Good luck you are going to need it dealing with these kind of people0

They did this to me too even though I was paying without any problems then.....wham! there go my wages ... and now they help themselves to 40% of my wage saying its for arrears (that no longer exist)
As mentioned by someone else in another post...Gestapo. Thats who they are.
You have my sympathy0 -
Actually you can report them for misrepresentation, as from Nov 08 the CSA is no longer part of DWP.
No idea if you would get anywhere with it, but worth a shot?
DEO's should be confirmed in writing but don't think that not getting anything is a reason in itself that the DEO will be ineffective.
I had a case where the case hinged on the PWC being in receipt of IS to start the claim, and being found guilty of fraud the CSA case was closed as the application under section 6 was invalid.
If this has always been the case then it may be worth getting her investigated, with as much proof as possible and refer it to JC+ and council etc and then appeal. This is a longshot though franklyNothing to see here :beer:0 -
Thanks everyone, my OH just wants to wait and see what happens. Unfortunately I can't make him take action ... blokes ey ?!!!0
