Gas boiler DIY repair

So it seems my gas boiler needs a new diverter value, and a new AAC switch.
I have been quoted about £220 for parts and fitting for this. Not sure I can afford to be spending that much like.
Was wondering if anyone knew how tricky this would be to do yourself (my brother is handy this way).
This is the part I need:
http://www.boilersparesdirect.co.uk/parts-online/shopexd.asp?id=86471
you can also get a copy of the valve here for even less:
http://www.abcotuk.co.uk/Product.asp?ProductId=P674&Catid=C2
EDIT: actually this could be the part here: http://www.abcotuk.co.uk/Product.asp?ProductId=P185&Catid=C2
as my boiler is a Vaillant turbomax 242E
So is this a tricky one to replace? Can anyone point out a guide or instructions on how to do it?
Thanks!

I think you'd be better off on the DIY board.
I have to say though personally I do not think that you should meddle with gas boilers unless you're corgi registered...do you have decent life and buildings insurance?0 -

I think any insurance would be void if a gas boiler has had a DIY repair?Dave0 -
