Split pins for fabric??

Does anyone know if you can get split pins for fabric? thin ones? I want to have a go at a couple of things and the videos I have seen on the net they call them split pins but they just look like normal pins which can't be safe?

Any ideas of something I could use that is like split pins?

I'm starting to think brads may not work at all, just had a little play and it doesn't work :( Need to find a few more videos to watch before attempting I think! I do like your monster brads though! very pretty :)

I am trying to make a couple of bows for my little ones hair. Something completely different and probably a bit out of my capabilities but willing to give it a go!

Rusty I have made bows for my hair and for my kids. What I do is make the actual bow part first and then slide it onto a grip although you can use a glue gun and glue it to a barette.
