help with catalogue...thanks...

having got loads of help and advice off this thread and managing to sort my own messy affairs out i am now helping my sister do hers....she has 3 catalogues which she is struggling to pay - as they were taken out in december 07 onwards they arent able to go down the cca route so i helped her send letter offering a token payment of £1 a month cos she is on benefits.

now, next have replied saying the least they will accept is £5 a month...

im just wondering as to how i proceed now? do i tell her she will have to pay this or tell her to stick to her guns of £1???? she hasnt heard back off the other 2 catalogues...

thanks

they can only have what she has. Does her incomings and outgoings suggest that she can afford to pay £5 per month to the catalogs?

She can only pay what she can afford.

    thanks for the replies guys.......

not sure of the apr but will ask her....

regarding the off of £1 a month she was advised to offer this from national debtline and stick to her guns but they just wont accept it....at the moment she is only on job seekers or whatever it is called and i know she gets £150 quid for her, hubby and two kids a week.....

so - any suggestions with a letter she can send them now?

    thanks....

Does it matter what they are prepared to accept?

If it was me I would just pay them the £1 per month and tell them that:

"It is just tough. You are not getting any more."

Benefits are to meet essential living expenses. They are not there to pay non-priority debts.

    yep

if they went to court for a CCj, they would get £1 each. Stuff them, they can wait.
