oh nozza how stupid am I ?! Ok don't answer that Lol :o :rolleyes2

    Its £575

Now I've just tried looking into doing it all myself and can get flights for £231.50 from Belfast with Continental which is brilliant as 2 years ago I flew to New York from Belfast in November for £330 and that booking it 4 months in advance.

Anyway I'm off to look to see if i get any hotels myself for a better price than going via the travel agents.

Any help very gratefully received as i know that time is of the essence and I really welcome any tips and advice.

    Many thanks again :A

Is that £575 per person or for all three?
Are the flights direct Belfast to Newark or are they via London or Dublin?
I stayed at the InterContinental Barclay for St Patricks Day a few years ago. As you can imagine the memory is a bit fuzzy but if I remember rightly it was a very nice hotel. I think it was right by Grand Central station so the location is fantastic.

We went at Xmas and stayed in the East Village bed and coffee on Avenue C. Check it out on Trip Advisor for the reviews. We really enjoyed it. The East Village is a lot cheaper to eat out in and not as touristy. It was $120 a night when I booked it but that was a year ago.

    Hi
    How about Radio City Apartments?
We stayed in these and the location is great, they range from studios up to 2 bedroomed. If the website is showing no availabilty, call them, I did and we got a cancellation. You can also reserve one and still look around at other hotels as they don't charge at the time of booking and cancellation charges don't kick in until a few days before you arrive.

That doesnt sound a bad price if its direct from Belfast to Newark.

We have went twice and for 5 nights we paid more than that but it was Oct/Nov so it is more exp then.

We booked once with American Holidays and got a good deal through them, Terra T couldn't match or anywhere close at the time (or anytime lately when I have called them!) Second time we booked independantely, Travelocity for flights and Hotel Connect for hotel (Belvedere on 48th/8th).

I would LOVE to go back to NYC:drool:

  • The hotel doesnt seem to bad in terms of reviews

So it works out about £300 per night for the accommodation (based on what you found for prices of flights)? New york is pretty extortionate for prices and you can spend quite a bit for somewhere quite ordinary

I have heard good things about the radio apartments but when hubby and i went to NY in Oct 07 it was booked up. We stayed at the wolcott hotel- please dont- we never saw natural light and the rooms were pretty grim- have just done a search for my review of it at the time- http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60763-d93333-r10707373-Wolcott_Hotel-New_York_City_New_York.html - good to see i was ranting even then lol!

I used to check this site from time to time - http://www.travelzoo.com/Index.aspx

also go to the main travel section of mse- I think there is a really long new york thread and maybe there would be some suggested hotels there....

Good luck with it, wish i was going (oooooh get me to Macys!!!!) :)

Just back from NYC. Stayed at The Helmsley on E42nd (near Grand Central). Nice hotel and got a good deal via Hotels.com. My past experiences of New York point to the idea that a mediocre hotel will set you back £70-90 but you can get a good one if you spend just a little extra. Trip advisor is a good resource for this although the American's sometimes tend to whine a bit about trivia.
