want to become a teaching assistant

I work as a Learning Support Assistant with special needs children. The job is very hard work, but so rewarding. You certainly would not do the job to make a lot of money as the pay is not very good. But there are massive benefits. You get all the school holidays off, you only work school hours, it is massively rewarding and you get a very good pension scheme.
I had a good job, working awful hours before I did this.. My previous job was not rewarding, I saw less of my children and school holidays they spent in day care or with grandparents.
I now believe quality of life is more rewarding and those young years with your children, you can never get back. I would never go back to my previous job.
