NEXT Gift Vouchers

Options
Not sure where to post this warning....so please move if in the wrong place..

I have some Next gift vouchers with the intention of buying myself some large items ie. washer etc... just phoned up to place the order to be told I can't use them, I would have to open up a 'next credit card' account and order via that then pay off using gift vouchers...
I am so angry... I am not in a positon to obtain a credit card.
Why didn't they make us aware of that at the time of purchase.

So be careful not buy vouchers for Mothers day

If you can get to a next shop, I think they can order stuff from the Next directory and I'm sure they'd let you use the vouchers then?

I'm not sure why you would expect them to tell you this when purchasing vouchers. How are they to predict how you want to spend them.
But if you go to the help section on their website, you can see the payment methods.

Though I don't really think NEXT are all that picky when they do their credit check. So if you do get an account and pay it off in full, this looks good on your credit score.

Are you sure they don't mean a credit account??

This would be normal for large items. I've had an account for years and have paid in vouchers before.

Have never heard or been offered a credit card from them and we recently purchased a bedroom (give or take a few items) on the next account then paid via card the following month. I would double check as I personally think you could have your wires crossed??

yes they must mean credit account next dont do credit cards its obvious you cant pay by gift vouchers over the phone or online
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.
  • yes I mean credit account not card.. but even so I don't wish to open one of those to spend my credit vouchers.

emweaver why is it obvious I can't pay for goods using gift vouchers over he phone or online?

You can use gift cards over the phone. Though I think you still have to have an account.
  • yes, thanks upsadaisy I could open an account but really didn't want to do that, guess I will give up and use the vouchers for instore.
Just wanted to warn others about the limited use of the vouchers.

I don't see the problem with at least trying to obtain an account? Then just use it to get the stuff with your vouchers then close it!

Because they will do a credit check and you don't want that on your credit file??
I don't know why Next keeps wanting people constantly to open their credit account... I've read many threads were people simply wanted to purchase items on-line and later found out that they have a credit a/c opened because you have to untick the option when placing order..

Does anyone know, whether you can order items on-line, pay normally on credit card and have the items delivered to different address then the billing address for the c/card is? I would like to do that but would like to have the items delivered to my office...
  • Any - sorry dont know the answer to your question....
I've given up went into store today- nice lady tried to order the items for me - seems the only way to buy anything electical is via their internet or phone system but you must pay with either their account or credit card.... unbelievable.. I've totally given up and going to comet tomorrow and will pay cash..and yes I do not want it showing up under my name that I've applied for credit - Next have such an odd system and have just lost out on almost £800 worth of business as I will pay cash elsewhere and save my vouchers for summer clothes I guess!
