Hello Im new. . . . . .

Hi everyone
I have made steps to sort out my debt. Feels good already. However, has anyone heard of the DEBT ADVISORY LINE? spoke to them they were really helpful but they phoned me and stated that they would take £35 per month of the money I gave them for my creditors!! Have just phoned CCCS and they were great. Got a phone call booked for 2 weeks time. In the meantime, what do you suggest I do when creditors contact me? We have ony defaulted on one of our creditrs
Thanks in advance for your help and support

Sam

    Hi

We recommend that you use a debt charity - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan#help

35 per month is £380 per year which does not pay off you debt.

And creditors generally are much happier if yo use a debt charity than a debt company.

    Hi,

You could always give Payplan a call, we are with them and all the money we pay goes to our creditors, nothing goes to Payplan. Its the best thing we did.

  • Thankyou. Dont CCCS do a pay plan? I thought thats what they said when I spoke to them and they dont charge either.

    Hi

CCCS and Payplan both offer Debt Managment Plans for free and are the most comon no-fee charging organisations. CCCS is a charity, Payplan is a company.

    Hi Sam
In the meantime continue to make at least token payments on the accounts rather than no payments at all. If you get phone calls from your creditors in the meantime tell them you are sorting out a debt management plan and ask them to give you a few weeks to sort it out. I think most creditors usually accept this. If they start to be difficult and start harrassing you with phone calls there is a template letter somewhere on here to send that requests all contact is by letter only. This stops them talking you into paying more than you can afford and gives you a physical trail of all contact you have with them (always handy to have).
