Is it time to join the euro?

With the pound in such a weak position, would now be a better or worse time to join the euro?

No time would be a good one to give up monetary independence in favour of the abomination that is the Euro. Without a political union to back it, it's an orphan currency that is crippling the weaker nations by robbing them of the monetary tools they need to recover.0

The UK would not be able to set it's own interest rates, so NO.
However, as it's pretty much 1 euro = 1 pound there may not be a better time.0 -
We should not join the Euro. Indeed, we should withdraw from the profoundly undemocratic EU super-state, into which we pay £££ billions and in return get a load of EE migrants and 'seekers'/criminals passed on to us by France et al.0

The best time to join would have been when the £ was high not low.
Personally I see it as too inflexible, finding a medium is throttling country's at both ends of the scale.0 -

So why have other countries like France and Germany considered it a good idea? How have their economies performed as a result?
I don't have an opinion either way. I'd just like to know more about the arguments. And also wonder if given that we are in the EU we should go the whole way with the currency.
Regarding the lack of democracy, is that not something that could be improved if we were more involved? Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0
