My friend, who has two children at school, told me that his school have banned the 'egg and spoon race', the 'three legged race' and the 'sack race' from their 'Sports Day'.

Health and Safety gone mad.

Good morning lads and lasses. :hello: :hello: :hello:

    Hey Rog,

yes, it's bluddy ridiculous what kids arent allowed to do these days.

At DDs infant school, the whole sports day 'ethos' was about taking part rather than winning

Therefore, the poor kids who struggled academically but were actually rather good at sports never got a chance to shine & all the parents wondered why the hell they'd bothered to turn up as they werent allowed to cheer their child on. And of course we all know that the real world is entirely non competitive & all about just taking part dont we :rotfl:

The sun now shining so DD will be relaying whether she likes it or not :p:D

Best I leave now before I get started on this rant

You can't have a sports day without the egg & spoon race, or the three-legged race or the sack race but then I forgot kids are not allowed to slide down icy playgrounds or play conkers or do anything that might cause their parents to sue:rolleyes: No wonder kids start experimenting with things like sex because they are not allowed to do things that kids do and instead are treated like miniature adults. Sorry you've made me jump onto my soapbox - best jump off quick before I take root:rotfl:

Feel free to jump on your soapbox anytime you like, H. :rotfl:

The other thing that my friend's school has done is to 'ban' the wearing of peaked caps.

I used to get 'six of the best' if I didn't wear my peaked cap.
