    Hi all

Not long returned from the eye hospital:eek: (I didnt leave there til gone 12:eek::eek:). The appointment was one of my regular ones for uveitis and glaucoma:rolleyes: Thankfully I have no uveitis and so I was asked if I would participate in some research so I agreed - I have had to give some blood, then at a later date they will take a sample of my aqueous humour (the fluid that is in the eye:eek:) to test.

Had some bad news too - I have to have cataract surgery and I opened my big mouth and said that it would be better done sooner whilst I have no clients than later when I do...as a consequence I go into and have my op on 16 July. I have asked that I be knocked out because I don't particularly want to be awake when they operate as the operation will be tricky - they have to avoid my trabulectomy and at the same time peel my pupil from the lens (sorry if this puts you off your tea). I am not telling my parents as I don't want them to worry as Dad is quite ill and its not fair on him.

:AOoo Horace - I am squemish about anything hospitally and especially eyes, just reading it is making me shuddery and my toes curl up.

Poor you, but its probably best done sooner than later for your eye health as well as for work. I could tell you that when my gran had hers done she said it was absolutley fine and didn't upset her at all - well i could tell you that but I would be fibbing. She said whilst she felt no pain she could see it happening and thought they were sticking pokers in her eyes:rolleyes:, but that was 10years ago and I'm sure things have improved. Anyway she has a vivid imagination.

Difficult to not tell your parents, will you be okay to get home from the op yourself and be on your own for the first few days? I understand you don't want to worry them although I bet they'd want to know. Could you tell just your mother just before you go in or we she 'have' to tell you Dad as well?

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

And one of these for the new pages. There is lots of newcomers about - I bet MSE is signing up new members at an amazing rate at the moment.
