Cheeky Money Saver...

Hi

I've been stupidly paying for PPI on my car finance for the last 2 years - it works at about £21 per month... to my credit, when I purchased the car my company had issued possible redunancy noticies out... so it was quite apt... but anyway. I called up to cancel it last week and they wanted me to pay £80 to do it, they wanted a cheque in the post.

So I sent them a letter saying something to the effect "I am sick of writing you letters requesting you cancel my PPI and my letters being ignored - as advised my your telephone customer services, there is no fee due for this as my previous requests have not been dealt with"

I got a letter back within 2 days saying it had been cancelled with no charge! I was very pleased indeed...

So I'm using that extra money to make real payments in order to get the balance down.........

Worth a try! Some of these car finance companies are a joke; very disorganised and often unprofessional. As long as you don't break the law, taking advantage of their bad company training is worth trying :-)

  • Admire your cheek - can't really criticise you doing this to a finance company, just don't do it to your local shop owner, as that'd be mean (haha)!

Indeed. Wouldn't do it to the little man; it's just nice to try it with those rip-off merchants at finance companies (some of them!!)

I'm sure the finance companies would do the same to you......
